Dam...

Remeber the opening sequence for the movie 'GoldenEye'? It begins with a crazy 220 meter bungee jump from the top of a dam. That dam is actually the Verzasca dam in Switzerland. And the nice people at BlackTomato are standing by to help you make the same jump. Check out the website for other fun and interesting adventures they can arrange for you as well.

Handkerchief, please…

It's hard to be a 'bad guy' during a coughing fit. That's the idea behind Avurt's new nonleathal weapon, the IM-5. It launches pellets of PAVA at a target.. hacking and wheezing ensues. It's all good fun. Targeting is accomplished via laser pointer, so even the firearm impaired can use it. And it is available in fashion colors for about 300 USD.

Smokin

Atttending a family function that's not going well? Maybe a good, military grade smoke bomb can help. Using simple stuff from around the house, it's possible to construct a really big wall of smoke. Seriously. This is an industrial smoke bomb.

Meet Stephen...

Meet Stephen K. Hayes. Stephen is a ninja. Seriously. He has been doing the ninja thing for a long time now. Since the 60’s, he’s been studying and training – and is credited for introducing the art of ninjitsu into the United States. Stephen is a busy guy: running schools, consulting for various security organizations, and even consulting with the Dali Lama now and again. As a rather modern ninja, it is possible to do custom video based training through his schools.

Fun with animals...

Unless you're a big game hunter, you may not have been paying attention to the advances in ' digital scouting cameras' as of late. Many companies are now making excellent products for discreetly photographing wildlife in it's various forms.
Interesting features include multiple zones of motion detection, infrared mode, and moonlight detection. Just hide it in a tree, and retrieve it in a couple of days. No one will ever steal your newspaper off your front lawn again.

Google.. Super Spy!

So, it was inevitable - with all this electronic mapping going on, someone was bound to get a look at something they weren't supposed to see. While mapping all the Starbuck's in Bejing (or whatever they were mapping), the commercial satellite managed to snap a few photos of the perviously classified 'Jin Ballistic Missile Submarine' the Chinese government has been working on. Oops.

Well, now that the cat is out of the bag, you can read about it at on the FAS blog:

Blinded by science...

They wrote the book..

The guys at the 'International Spy Museum' in Washington D.C. have written a nice, basic how-to-book. Written with an Ex-CIA operative, this book is chock full of useful information you can apply in your day to day life. It's written in a lively and somewhat humorous way - it's peppered with colorful illustrations. And quotes from Lao Tsu. Great summertime reading.

Your flashlight sickens me.

The US Department of Homeland security is working on a flashlight that will upset your stomach. Literally. A pulse of high energy light can cause waves of nausea -- making it easy to subdue bad guys. You might suspect it projects bad TV movies or something like that, but it actually uses LEDs pulsed at a specific frequency. Best not to leave this in your toolbox by accident.

Bourne Again!

With the release of the latest Bourne movie, our pals at VW have put out a stunt simulator to help promote the movie. If you have a bit of free time to burn, you might enjoy trying to recreate stunts from the movie using this online tool. Tiny virual cars and props can smash into things, jump over stuff, and generally cause virtual havoc - all while you can change the camera angles and play it back. Hours of fun for the whole family.

Credit in vein

A new biometric technology was announced by the smart guys at Hitatchi. They have developed a system called 'finger vein money'. Similar to a finger print reader, it reads the blood vessels under the skin - making the system much harder to fool. Look for it being tested at ATMs in Japan. No word on them developing a better name for it yet.
