The US Army is working in the backroom to devlop a plasma shield. How very Sci-fi of them. The plasma sheild would us a technology known as DPD - dynamic pulse detonation. Basically, a short intense laser pulse creates the plasma, and a second pulse creates a supersonic shockwave. Best used far away from the china cabinet.
