A Swiss company called BKW is currently working on a civilian submarine that is solar powered. 'Projekt Goldfisch' will be able to stay submerged, while drawing power from a floating solar panel island. Passengers will arrive and leave the sub via a solar powered shuttle. Launch of the ship is planned for mid 2012.
