New technology will be able to scan people to the molecular level from 50 meters (about 164 feet) away. The laser based scanners are said to be an order of magnitude faster and more sensitive - literally a million times faster - able to do a detail analysis on surface and content. BAE Systems has been working on replacing GPS systems. The idea is to start with GPS coordinates, but to learn from other transmissions in the environment - making the guidance systems work, even when the GPS cuts out. The same tech could be used to build maps of indoor spaces via electronic transmissions. Very interesting.
