A new biometric technology was announced by the smart guys at Hitatchi. They have developed a system called 'finger vein money'. Similar to a finger print reader, it reads the blood vessels under the skin - making the system much harder to fool. Look for it being tested at ATMs in Japan. No word on them developing a better name for it yet.
