Falx Air is working on some pretty interesting designs for near future air transport. (falx from the latin for 'sickle') One of their designs is the 'Very Light Hybrid Transport' - a vertical lift transport that uses a variety of technologies taken from electric cars to power it. (batteries, photovoltaic cells, and kinetic energy reclaim).
