Sunfish...
A Swiss company called BKW is currently working on a civilian submarine that is solar powered. 'Projekt Goldfisch' will be able to stay submerged, while drawing power from a floating solar panel island. Passengers will arrive and leave the sub via a solar powered shuttle. Launch of the ship is planned for mid 2012.

The units are not exactly hand held - but can be chained together to form a large scale solid state laser for defensive or offensive purposes. Making tracks...
If you're serious about tracking your car or other asset, you might take a look at something like this: 'The GlobalSat TR-151'. This small device can be incorporated into whatever you'd like to track, then you can follow its location on either a free service (like googlemaps) or a premium subscription service. Clubbing...

Underground Computing...
Usually -- computing centers are rather dry, uninteresting places. Not so for this one in Sweden. Built to withstand a nuclear blast, this underground computing site has all the comforts of home: artificial lighting and greenhouses, submarine engines for backup power, lunar styled conference center. Skimming...
Reaction International Ltd. has added a new hovercraft to it's lineup: the Hov Pod SPX 120 Turbo. Closet space...
On the US/Canadian border, there's a rather unique house for sale. The owner has been quietly building underneath the main structure for 20 years, a four level hideout. Falling at home...
If you need to practice your free falling technique - but don't really have time to sky dive, you might consider this: the 'SuperFly Vertical Windtunnel'.
