If you're serious about tracking your car or other asset, you might take a look at something like this: 'The GlobalSat TR-151'. This small device can be incorporated into whatever you'd like to track, then you can follow its location on either a free service (like googlemaps) or a premium subscription service. With realtime updates, it would be easy to recover your asset - or launch a missile. Cost: variable based on subscription service.
